mission and vISION
Our Mission
Noor is a feminist think-and-do tank devoted to building the power of gender justice and progressive movements to obstruct far right agendas and advance our transformative visions. We coordinate a transnational network, expose and oppose the resurgent right and build narrative power, and facilitate strategic alignment and strategy development.
Our Vision
Noor envisions a world of equality, justice, and deep feminist and multiracial democracy, that prioritizes the care of people and the planet, and where feminist transformative visions thrive.
OUR VALUES AND TAcTICS
Across regions, the far right – including fascisms, authoritarianism, and fundamentalisms – have significantly entrenched their power in recent years. The crises facing us are global in nature, requiring greater and deeper transnational cooperation. Despite their anti-globalist and ultra-nationalist rhetoric, the far right coordinate, share strategies and organize across regions. Feminist and progressive activists face an increasingly repressive environment and escalating attacks on their legitimacy and safety.
Yet while under coordinated attack, feminist movements are the key to combating the global rise of the right, and to building deep democracy. For some time, feminist movements across regions have been at the forefront in identifying and analysing ‘warning signs’ of the resurgent right – these are rooted in patriarchy and heteronormativity, with gender and sexuality central to their ideologies. Likewise, along with other progressive movements, feminists have been at the leading edge of developing and growing transformative systemic alternatives and forms of organizing.
In this time of multiplying global crises, we have an important opportunity to come together to block these rising forces and to deeply reimagine our world.
